Yes, I just happened to have all that lying around.
Yesterday (Wednesday, since I am backdating this post to Thursday, because I can) we had our summer party at PARC. The theme was “1967,” and there was a costume contest. You can see where this is leading:
Competition was a little thin on the ground. Especially since there were three separate categories, and one of them was Tie-Dye.
And I can do the Twist.
I won a lava lamp! It’s now sitting in my office, mesmerizing me.
Per a colleague’s exhortations, I told the judging panel that I had not had to go out and get anything for my costume–the boots I bought last year from the Amazon super sale; the dress I got for like $6 at a thrift store in Jamaica Plain. The earrings and the headband both came from Claire’s. The sunglasses I got at some store on State Street, because they’re in style again. The peace signs were being handed out at the party.
Actually, it was remarked by a couple of people that it was difficult to tell if I was competing in the contest or just feeling flashy. I admit, the hair isn’t really period, but it goes so nicely with the boots…

Cabell, you are disturbingly awesome in your neon pink and green.

Yeah, I’m with the folks mentioned at the end. With the exception of the tie-dyed peace medallion, how is that in any way different from the way you usually dress?
